Recently while shopping in Mossimo Dutti during the sale... which by the way is up to 70% off now... disappointed at not being able to grab my hands on any of the men's twisted leather rope bracelet... I overheard... a PRC lady, obviously a tourist, asking the SA... " 哪里有爱马仕? "
The SA who was a young chap, gave a very puzzled look and shook his head. The woman than turned and asked another lady SA the same question. She too shook her head and spoke in her ang moh accented mandarin asking if she (PRC lady) could say it in english. At this point I was totally amused by this 鸡同鸭讲 conversation... I, of course, being the shopping ambassador that I am... decided to put all 3 of them out of their misery... turned to the PRC and said to her... in my fluent mandarin... that there was one at Ngee Ann City within 半岛屋 and that the 旗舰店 is at Liat Towers.

Considering that China is fast becoming the biggest consumer of luxury goods, soon to surpass Japan, don't you think its about time that we should brush up on how to pronounce the brand names in mandarin?
