Drooling... literally... over Dim Sum at Red Star Restaurant

JW... after like some 3 months... he has been too busy with work... finally caught up with Sista CT, RG & KW... for lunch at... Red Star Restaurant...

Red Star Restaurant at Chin Swee Road... started in the 70s by 4 chinese chefs... is one of the few restaurants that still serves dim sum from push carts... totally brought me back to childhood...

When I was a kid... when we would go for dim sum... it was norm for customers to pick and choose their har kaw, siew mai and carrot cake... served warm... from waitresses pushing these push carts... loaded full of  piping hot dim sum baskets filled with delicate goodies...

I remember it was like a magic performance... the waitress would lift the lid of the basket... puffs of steam would escape... to reveal the yummy contents...

Forward 20-30 years to today... a lot of things have changed over the years... those same waitresses are now old aunties... the kids have all grown... but Red Star Restaurant has remained the same throughout... the nostalgic atmosphere... the push carts... the yummy dim sum still being served warm from the carts... Truly a great way to celebrate our nation's 46th birthday...
