What I Overheard... While Shopping...

This is what I overheard while in Forever 21 today...

"eeeyiii... it's a fake one..."

Two well heeled ladies... was commenting on the bag that another lady was carrying... then turned and gossiped among themselves... my eagle eyes told me that... "Yes... indeed... it is not authentic... "

"So?"

What puzzles me is... Does it matter? So what if it is not authentic? Did she try to force it on us that it is real?

Designer goods are indeed desirable... but not many can accept or afford the high prices being charged which have lead to it becoming 'status symbols'. Good for you if you can afford it... but to some, a bag is a bag...  designer or not...

I am not encouraging that we should buy fakes... or we must only get the real McCoy... you should be allowed to buy anything you want with your hard earned money...

Just this week I met up with a friend who bought me this from his recent trip...

I knew the moment I opened the box that it was not an 'original' but I choose not to comment on it to him.... He did not try to 'convince' me that it was real either... to me it was just a gift filled with good intentions... that he remember me and what I like...

"Will I wear it???"

Of course I would... I would not wear it into a MBMJ boutique but I would wear it... because... it's a nice design...

If someone were to ask... "Are those new?"

I would say they are a gift... let people form their own opinions... if in their mind they are real then so be it... but if they think it is not... that's fine too because they are indeed not...

People assume... judge... all the time... You could be carrying/wearing a genuine designer item but if in people minds... it's a fake... it becomes a fake... doesn't matter if you paid like thousands of dollars...

Sad but true...

So buy... use/carry/wear... what you... luv/like and can afford... look good in... 'real', designer inspired or otherwise... forget about what people think...

But... please don't try to pass on a 'fake' by flaunting it as the real deal... It both undermines yourself and those you are trying to 'convince'...
